OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra vs Ace 6 vs Ace 6T: New “Ace Awakening” 3D lithography finish, squircle camera island

Oneplus Ace 6 Ultra “Ace Awakening” 3D lithography finish, squircle camera island

The OnePlus Ace 6 series has grown into a three-device lineup that blurs the lines between performance flagship and dedicated gaming machine. With the Ace 6 and Ace 6T having launched last year, the newly unveiled Ace 6 Ultra arrives with a bold design language called "Ace Awakening" and a specification sheet aimed squarely at mobile gamers.

"Ace Awakening" 3D Lithography Takes Center Stage

The OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra introduces a bold new design identity that the company calls “Ace Awakening.” Unlike the more understated Ace 6 and Ace 6T, the Ultra’s design is both visually striking and tactilely distinct.

At the heart of this transformation is 3D stereoscopic lithography on the back panel. This process engraves light into the surface, creating dynamic reflections that shift as the phone is tilted. A large reflective Ace logo emerges from the deep purple backdrop, giving the Ultra a premium, futuristic character. By contrast, the Ace 6 and Ace 6T rely on conventional glass finishes without this light‑reactive treatment.

All three models share a squircle camera island in the top‑left corner, but the Ultra elevates it with a “Metal Cube Deco” design. This flattened metal array organizes the lenses while avoiding natural fingertip resting points, offering both function and refinement.

Perhaps the most unusual choice is the heat‑insulating metal frame. Instead of dissipating heat outward, the Ultra channels it away from the palms toward the screen and back, improving comfort during extended gaming. Finally, larger R‑angles on the corners reduce hand fatigue, making the Ultra’s design not just aesthetic, but ergonomically tuned for long sessions.

MediaTek Takes the Crown

The most significant divergence in the lineup is under the hood.

- Ace 6 Ultra: Packs the latest MediaTek Dimensity 9500. Built on a 3nm process, this chip is specifically tuned for sustained gaming performance and power efficiency, making it the new benchmark for the series.

- Ace 6: Features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4). This is a proven workhorse with excellent CPU performance, but it's a half-generation behind the T and Ultra models.

- Ace 6T: Upgraded to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. This was a significant jump over the base Ace 6, offering Qualcomm's custom Oryon CPU architecture for better multi-tasking and AI capabilities.

165Hz Across the Board

All three phones feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, but the Ultra distinguishes itself through physical ergonomics.

- Ace 6 Ultra: While sharing the same resolution and BOE panel, the Ultra introduces a "Thermal Insulation Metal Frame." This is a counter-intuitive engineering move: instead of using the frame to dissipate heat outward to your palms, it blocks heat from reaching the grip area, channeling it toward the screen and back panel. This keeps hands cooler during long sessions, though it puts more thermal stress on the display. It also features an aggressive "3D Laser Etching" design with a massive reflective Ace logo, clearly targeting gamers.

- Ace 6 & 6T: These models focus on durability with Crystal Shield Glass and IP68/IP69K full-level dust and water resistance. They are lighter (213-217g) compared to the expected heft of the Ultra's massive battery and cooling system.

The 8,500 mAh Milestone

This is where the "Ultra" moniker earns its stripes.

- Ace 6 Ultra: The undisputed endurance king with a 8,500 mAh battery and 100W charging. This capacity is currently at the absolute ceiling of the smartphone industry.

- Ace 6: Features a 7,800 mAh battery but wins on charging speed with 120W support. It fills up faster, but won't last as long.

- Ace 6T: Sits in the middle with an 8,300 mAh battery and 100W charging.

Camera System: Not the Ultra's Forte

If you were hoping the "Ultra" would also mean "ultimate camera," you might be disappointed. OnePlus has clearly positioned the Ace series as performance-first.

- All Three Models: Share a nearly identical camera loadout: 50MP Main (with OIS on Ace 6/6T) and a basic 8MP Ultrawide and 16MP Selfie camera.

- Ace 6T Edge: The Ace 6T is listed with a 16MP Ultrawide, which is an upgrade over the 8MP sensors on the standard Ace 6 and the rumored Ace 6 Ultra.

None of these are camera flagships. They are competent for scanning QR codes and the occasional social media post, but the Ace 6T might offer slightly better landscape shots due to the higher-res ultrawide.

Choose the OnePlus Ace 6 if: You want the fastest possible charging (120W) and a Snapdragon chip at the lowest entry price.

Choose the OnePlus Ace 6T if: You want the best all-rounder value. It has a larger battery than the Ace 6, a newer Snapdragon processor, and a better ultrawide camera—often for less money.

Choose the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra if: You are a mobile gamer first and foremost. The thermal management of the new metal frame combined with the 8,500 mAh battery and 165Hz display makes this a handheld console disguised as a phone. Just don't expect flagship camera quality.
