In a significant move that is set to dominate the Indian premium smartphone market for the first half of 2026, Xiaomi has officially opened sales for its latest imaging powerhouses, the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Following their global unveiling at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona and a subsequent launch event in India on March 11, the devices have finally hit the shelves. Effective immediately, consumers can purchase the latest flagships through major retail channels, including Amazon India, the official Mi.com website, and select Xiaomi retail stores across the country.

This launch marks a critical moment for Xiaomi as it continues to push its portfolio further up the price ladder, directly challenging established players like Samsung and Apple in the ultra-premium segment. With a heavy emphasis on computational photography, cutting-edge silicon, and a renewed partnership with the legendary German optics brand Leica, the Xiaomi 17 series isn't just an incremental update; it is a statement of intent.

Xiaomi 17 Series Official Pricing

As expected, the Xiaomi 17 series carries a premium price tag that reflects its flagship status. Xiaomi has maintained a clear distinction between the two models, catering to both users who prefer a compact form factor and those who demand the absolute best in camera technology.

The Xiaomi 17 is positioned as the more accessible, compact flagship. It starts at Rs. 89,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. For users who require more space for media and apps, the higher-spec model with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage is priced at Rs. 99,999. It is available in three sophisticated finishes: Black, Ice Blue, and Venture Green.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the pinnacle of Xiaomi’s engineering, offered in a single, fully-loaded configuration featuring 16GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, priced at Rs. 1,39,999. This places it firmly in the territory of the industry's most expensive Android devices. The Ultra variant is available in more classic, understated tones: Black and White.

Limited-Time Offers

Recognizing the psychological barrier of a six-figure price tag, Xiaomi has rolled out an aggressive suite of launch offers designed to sweeten the deal for early adopters. These offers significantly enhance the value proposition of both devices.

For the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the headline act is the "Early Bird" photography bundle. Customers who purchase the device between March 13 and March 17 will receive the Xiaomi Professional Photography Kit Pro, which is valued at Rs. 19,999 completely free of cost. This kit typically includes a leather case with a grip, a thumb support, a video recording button, and a 67mm filter adapter ring, effectively transforming the phone into a more traditional camera-like experience.

In addition to the physical kit, the company is offering an instant discount of Rs. 10,000 on purchases made using SBI Credit Cards or Credit Card EMIs, bringing the effective price of the Ultra down to a more palatable Rs. 1,29,999.

The Xiaomi 17 is not left out of the value. It comes with a clever "Never Run Out" storage upgrade offer. During the initial sale period, customers can purchase the 512GB storage variant for the same price as the 256GB model—effectively a Rs. 10,000 benefit. Furthermore, Xiaomi is bundling a Free Phone Damage Protection Plan worth Rs. 9,999 providing peace of mind for the device's large display.

Both models also come with a suite of digital perks, including a four-month Spotify Premium subscription, three months of YouTube Premium, and three months of Google AI Pro subscription. Reliance Jio users are also eligible for additional benefits valued at Rs. 31,500.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

At the core of both the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra lies Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile platform to date, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Built on a cutting-edge 3nm process node, this chipset represents a massive leap in both processing power and energy efficiency. The octa-core CPU is designed to handle the most demanding tasks, from high-end gaming to intensive video editing, without breaking a sweat .

This raw power is complemented by the new HyperOS 3, based on Android 16. The software suite integrates deeply with the hardware to enable advanced HyperAI capabilities. These include AI-powered writing tools, real-time speech recognition and interpretation, and AI-generated dynamic wallpapers. The "Circle to Search" feature, powered by Google Gemini, is also deeply integrated, allowing for seamless information retrieval.

Display Technology

Xiaomi has tailored the display experiences to match the distinct personalities of the two phones.

The Xiaomi 17 is designed for users who crave flagship power without the bulk. It features a compact 6.3-inch CrystalRes OLED display with a sharp 1.5K resolution (2,656x1,220 pixels). The LTPO panel allows for an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz, conserving battery when viewing static content and ensuring buttery smoothness while scrolling. With a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, it offers excellent sunlight legibility and supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for a cinematic viewing experience.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra, by contrast, is built for those who consume media and edit content on the go. It boasts a larger 6.9-inch Xiaomi HyperRGB OLED display, also with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,500 nits of peak brightness. It introduces Wet Touch technology, allowing for accurate touch response even when the screen or the user's fingers are wet—a practical feature for photography in the rain or by the pool.

The Leica Camera System

The camera is, without a doubt, the star of the show, particularly on the Ultra model. The collaboration with Leica has matured, resulting in a setup that blurs the line between smartphone and professional camera.

The Xiaomi 17 features a versatile Leica-tuned triple camera array, featuring three 50-megapixel sensors. This includes a primary wide camera, a telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide shooter, ensuring users are covered for virtually any shooting scenario.

However, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is in a league of its own. It is the world’s first smartphone to feature Leica’s new 1-inch LOFIC (Lateral OverFlow Integration) sensor. This 50-megapixel Light Fusion 1050L sensor is a game-changer for dynamic range. LOFIC technology significantly expands the sensor's capacity to handle light, preventing overexposed highlights in bright scenes while retaining detail in shadows.

Complementing the main sensor is a groundbreaking 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. Unlike many periscope lenses that are fixed at a single focal length, this Samsung HPE sensor supports continuous optical zoom between 75mm and 100mm equivalent. This allows for perfectly framed portrait shots at any increment within that range, without the loss of quality associated with digital cropping. The setup is rounded out by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. For selfie enthusiasts, both models feature a high-resolution 50-megapixel front-facing camera capable of 4K video recording.

Battery and Charging

To power these sophisticated systems, Xiaomi has equipped the series with substantial battery cells and incredibly fast charging speeds.

The compact Xiaomi 17 houses a surprisingly large 6,330mAh Xiaomi Surge battery. It supports blistering 100W wired HyperCharge, which can take the device from zero to full in a matter of minutes, along with 50W wireless HyperCharge for a cable-free experience.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra, while packing more camera hardware and a larger screen, includes a 6,000mAh battery. It supports 90W wired charging and the same 50W wireless charging standard. Both devices also support reverse wireless charging, allowing users to top up their earbuds or smartwatches on the go . Durability is also a key focus, with the Xiaomi 17 boasting an IP68 rating, while the Ultra goes a step further with IP66 + IP68 + IP69 ratings, making it resistant to dust, water immersion, and even high-pressure water jets. With pre-orders now live and the early bird offers providing significant incentives, the Xiaomi 17 series presents a compelling option for Indian consumers looking for a device that combines bleeding-edge technology with professional-grade photography tools.
